Dial M for Murder
Thank you to the patrons of Dial M for Murder, who helped us raise $576 for the hospice program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties! Pictured below is producer Bruce Finney delivering the donation to VNA President, J. Churchill Hindes.

The Nerd

On August 2, 2011 Dick Hibbert (Producer of The Nerd) presented a check in the amount of $400, to Robert M. Walton, Medical Center Director, Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, White River Junction. This money, generously donated by our loyal audience members, will go to the “Needy Patients Welfare Fund #1015” at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction. This fund, which receives no government financial support, is administered by the Chief Social Worker for emergency situations when exploration of all known resources has been exhausted. It may be used to provide Veterans receiving care at White River Junction, with emergency food, housing, transportation or for any other situation where the Social Worker documents an urgent need.
Since The Nerd featured a Vietnam War Veteran as one of its characters, we chose a charity that supports Veterans (of all wars). Our sincere thanks to the local Mac’s Market, Costco and Shaws who donated the cookies and beverages that we offered for sale by donation. One hundred percent of the funds collected went to this VA fund.
If you would like to add your support to Vermont’s Veterans, contributions can be mailed to: Voluntary Services (135), 215 North Main Street, White River Junction, VT 05009. Checks should be made payable to the VA Medical Center, indicating on the memo line of the check “Needy Patients Welfare Fund #1015.”

A Christmas Story
Congratulations to the cast and crew of A Christmas Story, which had its final run on December 12, 2010. Thank you to all involved in the show for an outstanding performance! See a review from an enthused patron below:
...This show was AWESOME!!!! A Christmas Story is my most favorite Christmas movie in the history of Christmas movies...and so my expectations were pretty high. Well, Essex Community Players EXCEEDED my expectations and I laughed so hard for so long that my cheeks literally hurt!! I was surprised at the scenes they were able to duplicate and the acting was very, very good! I must admit that Ralphie's teacher was HILARIOUS in her scenes....better than the teacher in the movie! All the actors were deadringers and did such a fantastic job!!!....and I especially liked the dad with his yelling at the dogs and the heater....almost like you recorded the movie for his parts! "FRA-GEE-LEE..it must be Italian"...gotta be my favorite line from that movie! I really liked how the adult Ralphie was out for all to see, as well!
