Our History

We began as the Essex Players in 1958, the brainchild of Bess Cohen, Elinor Barr, Bill Devlin and their theater-minded friends. In 1965 we became the Essex Community Players, and made Memorial Hall our home. Our mission is to produce quality, live community theater, promote the development of theater skills, and advance theater talents in Essex and Chittenden County.

Essex Community Players has become the “Theater Family” for the Essex Junction community.  Each year we present the best in live drama, comedy, and musicals.  All of our productions, and the pleasure they create, would not be possible without the support of our many volunteers and local businesses.  Join us as we create our theatrical sets, hang the production lights, create costumes and have a lot fun working on all the “behind the scene” activities that make a show successful. We also have many other ways where you can use your talents, energy and creativity as part of the best in community theater.

Our Board of Directors

The “business” of Essex Community Players is governed by the Board of Directors.  Elected by the ECP membership at the Annual Meeting, these individuals are the creative and administrative backbone of our theater company.
